FAQ — Amazon Prime Gaming & Twitch Subscriptions

Everything you need to know about linking Amazon Prime to Twitch, using your free monthly Prime Gaming subscription, and supporting live streams and creators.

What is Prime Gaming and how does it work with Twitch?

Prime Gaming is included with Amazon Prime. When you link Prime to your Twitch account, you get one free channel subscription each month (called a Prime Sub) that you can use on any eligible channel. It unlocks sub perks like emotes, badges, and sub-only chat access.

How do I link Amazon Prime to my Twitch account?

Create/sign in to Twitch, then connect your accounts on the Prime Gaming linking page. Once linked, your Twitch subscription dialog will show the Use Prime Sub option on eligible channels.

Where do I find the “Use Prime Sub” checkbox?

Go to the channel you want to support, click the purple Subscribe button, and open the subscription pop-up. If your accounts are linked and the benefit is available in your region, you’ll see a Use Prime Sub checkbox. Select it, then choose Subscribe with Prime.

Does the Prime Sub renew automatically every month?

No. The Prime Gaming sub is monthly and manual. You can switch channels each month or re-sub the same one—just repeat the process and check Use Prime Sub again.

Can I use my Prime Sub on more than one Twitch channel?

You get one free subscription per month with Prime. You can still purchase additional paid subs for other channels, but the Prime benefit covers a single channel at a time.

Is Prime Gaming available in my region?

Availability varies by country/region. If you don’t see the Use Prime Sub option after linking, your region may not support Prime channel subscriptions yet, or your Prime plan may be ineligible.

What’s the difference between a Prime Sub and a paid sub?

Prime Sub: free with Amazon Prime, one per month, same perks as a tier-1 sub on eligible channels.
Paid Sub: billed monthly, can subscribe to multiple channels and tiers (1/2/3) at once.

Why don’t I see the channel’s Subscribe button?

The channel may be offline, not affiliate/partnered, or you’re using a browser extension that hides UI. Refresh, disable extensions, or check on desktop. If the channel isn’t eligible, Prime Sub won’t appear.

How do I switch my Prime Sub to a different streamer next month?

Wait until your monthly cycle resets, then visit the new channel and repeat the process: open Subscribe → check Use Prime SubSubscribe with Prime.

Can I enable chat notifications when I subscribe with Prime?

Yes. In Twitch Settings → Prime Gaming, turn on the option to announce your Prime subscription in chat so creators and viewers see your support during live streams.

Why did I get charged $4.99 if I used Prime?

If the Use Prime Sub box wasn’t checked or your Prime benefit wasn’t active/linked, Twitch will process a paid sub. Verify linking, confirm region eligibility, and try again next cycle with the Prime checkbox selected.
