March 2004 — Salinas Californian Sports Editor Joey Delgado introduces the rosters of the boys teams in the inaugural All-Star Soccer Classic, held at Soledad High School in south Monterey County the first two years of the event. The event features a boys and a girls game, showcasing the 64 most talented high school seniors in the county. Former U.S. National Team star Alexi Lalas was the keynote speaker the first year of the event, which is spearheaded by Executive Director Carlos Rubio.
